Woman naxal killed in gun-fight with security forces in Chhattisgarh
Raipur: A woman naxal was killed in a gun-fight with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-hit Bijapur district on Tuesday, police said. The cadre was killed in an exchange of fire between a joint team of security personnel and ultras in the restive Mirtoor police station limits in the wee hours, a senior police official told a news agency. Several joint teams of Special Task Force (STF), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) battalion, and district force were mobilised from separate places yesterday on a special anti-naxal operation in forests of Mirtoor, Jangla and Gangaloor police station limits, around 450 kms away from here, he said.
While cordoning off Mirtoor region, security forces spotted a naxal camp near Bechapal village following which they started encircling the spot. Meanwhile, some armed insurgents smelled presence of security forces and opened indiscriminate firing at them, triggering a gun-fight between both sides, the official said. However, on seeing security forces zeroing on them, ultras fled to the dense forest. Later, during search of the spot, body of a woman naxal in uniform was found. One wireless set, two hand grenades, one 315 bore rifle and other materials were also seized from the spot, he said.

Hardcore Maoist arrested, cache of arms recovered
Ranchi, June 1: Wanted hardcore Maoists of the CPI (Maoist) Ishwar Dayal Mahto was arrested in a joint operation by police and CRPF from Bundu Police Station area in Ranchi on Monday. The security forces have also recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition including bomb-making instruments from the Naxal. Mahto set afire a truck during May 26 Jharkhand bandh at NH-33 and thrashed the helper in Tamar area, said, Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar talking to the media persons.
A country made pistol, huge cache of arms and ammunition including bomb-making instruments, mobile, photo album, Air gun, American made gun, was recovered from the possession of Naxal, said SSP Kumar. SSP further said that Mahto is also member of Chandan Patar Munda group. Police are also attempting to nab other members of the outfit. In the joint operation Rural SP Rajkumar Lakda, Bundu DSP Ramsarek Rai, Assistant Commandant Anshuman Kumar, Bundu Inspector Rakesh Kumar, Tamar Police Station officer Sanchman Tamang along with district and CRPF jawans were part of the team.
Hardcore Maoist nabbed by cops
A hardcore Maoist came in police net during a search operation carried out by security forces in the insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said on Monday. According to the police, the held ultra was identified as Virendra Darro (32) resident of Chhindtola village under Pratappur police station limits, Superintendent of Police, Kanker, JN Meena informed. Darro was involved in several serious Naxal incidents like murder of a villager in Badgaon in year 2009, he said.
One person injured as Maoist attack brick kiln in Bihar
Suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres attacked a brick kiln unit at Purnahiya in Sheohar District late in the night on May 31 and fired at an accounts clerk, reports The Telegraph. The victim, Ramesh Ram, has been admitted to Sitamarhi Sadar hospital.
