Maoists say they are not behind shutting of Catholic schools
IMPHAL, March 19: The Maoist Communist Party Manipur has clarified that it has no connection with the closing of four Catholic Schools in the State, namely Little Flower School, St. Josheph School, Christ Joti School and Catholic School, Canchipur. According to a release of the party, the party will keep Nirmalabas School under scrutiny if the school fails to consent to the demands of the party within five days. However, the party will put MM Higher Secondary School and Little Rose Higher Secondary School on ban permanently. Both the schools will bear responsibility for the 2500 students who did not get their admit card for the CBSE examination, it said. The party also notified all private schools in the state to get affiliated to All Manipur Private School Welfare Association, it said.
More CRPF units for Nuapada in Odisha
Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Prakash Mishra told the media on March 18 that if required more CRPF units would be deployed in Nuapada District to free the area from Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), reports The Times of India. He added that he would take steps to ensure that tourists are able to visit Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Nuapada District without the fear of Maoists. Mishra, who went to Sunabeda village in a chopper, admitted that tourism was hit in the area due to increase in extremist activities in the past five years.
