Senior Maoist ultra arrested
A senior Maoist leader was today arrested when he was going back to jungles after getting treatment of his leg in Lohardaga district. Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan said A team was set up after getting information that sub-zonal commander of CPI(Maoist) Yogendra Mishra came for treatment of his injured leg. He was arrested this morning in the jungles under Kisko police station of the district, he added. A sub-zonal commander, Mishra has been active with the banned outfit for over a decade and is senior to some of the politburo members of the organisation, Ratan said.
One hardcore Maoist held; arms, documents of naxal literature seized
In a major success in its anti-Naxal operation ,the Bokaro Police on Tuesday evening nabbed one hardcore Maoist from Siyari forest area of the Bermo sub-division. The arrested Maoist has been identified as Sankar Murmu alias Sanjay jee . The Maoist Sankar Murmu, police said, has confessed his involvement in three an encounters with the police, attack on the police party and arms lootings cases at Chauparan, Latehar and Gola. The security forces have also recovered one double barrel gun, mobile sets and Naxali literatures and dozen live cartridges from him. A resident of Hazaribagh, Sankar Murmu alias Sanjay Jee was arrested by the police in wee hours of Tuesday, while he was on way to Jhumra.
Security forces recover powerful can-bomb
Jamshedpur, Mar 19 (PTI) Security forces today recovered a powerful can-bomb from Saranda forest in naxal-affected West Singhbhum district, police said. Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel comprised of CRPF and district armed police force launched a massive search operation in a village near Karampada and spotted the can-bomb planted underneath a kuch road, said Superintendent of Police, Michael Raj S. SP said the explosive, weighed 30 kgs, was planted to target the security personnel.
