Chand announces formation of new party CPN (Maoist)
KATHMANDU, NOV 29 – Leader Netra Bikram Chand , who severed his ties with Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist earlier this week, has formed a new party under his leadership, on Saturday. A gathering of leaders close of leader Chand at a remote village in Chitwan decided to form a new party named CPN (Maoist) under Chand’s leadership. Chand was CPN-Maoist Secretary before he decided to separate from the party calling Chairman Mohan Baidya “incapable” of leading the party and class struggle ahead.
According to central member Sharad Bhandari, the gathering decided to remove dash from the party’s current name and stick with the name the party used during the decade long people’s war. The three-day long gathering has appointed leader Chand as the coordinator while it also decided to call a national gathering so as to finalise the party’s organisational structure. Likewise, the party has decided to hold the national gathering by next month.
