Seven Maoists arrested in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Oct 19 (PTI) Seven Maoist cadres were today arrested by security forces in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Kanker district, police said. The Maoist cadres were apprehended from forests under Koyalibeda police station limits by a joint team of the Border Security Force and the district police force during a search operation in the region, Kanker Superintendent of Police R N Dash said.
Security forces defuse five landmines, seize explosives in Bihar’s Nawada
NAWADA: Security forces have defused five landmines and recovered a large quanity of explosives from a Maoist hideout in Hudhudwa forest in Bihar’s Nawada district, a police officer said on Sunday. Carrying out a combing operation against the Maoists ahead of the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) elections in Nawada district, the security forces defused five landmines planted by the ultras in Hudhudwa forests on Saturday, the superintendent of police (SP) Parvez Akhtar said. They also seized 40 meter cottage wire, 30 meter fuse wire, five detonators, five pressure switch, besides large quantity of naxal literature, from the spot, he said. No arrest has been made in this connection, Akhtar said.
Maharashtra Results: NOTA positioned third in Gadchiroli constituency
Maharashtra, India: The NOTA (None of the Above) option received the third highest number of votes in Gadchiroli constituency during the Assembly election in Maharashtra. The area of Gadchiroli constituency is considered to be under influence of naxalite/ maoist movement. The seat was won by Dr. Deorao Holi of BJP who defeated his nearest rival Bhagyashree Atram of NCP. Deorao Holi polled 70,185 votes while Atram got 18,280 votes. With 17,510 votes NOTA positioned at third place.
Maoist Manipur greets people on MAFYF b’day
Imphal, October 18 2014 : Maoist Communist Party, Manipur has greeted the people of Manipur, especially youths on the occasion of 14th foundation of Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) . According to a statement of Maoist Manipur, MAFYF was founded on October 18, 2001 by a group of youths, who strongly believe in the communist ideology. The Front has been working actively to uphold the human rights and dignity of the people of Manipur.
Leaders like late Udoy Thongam were instrumental in the formation of MAFYF. Five members of MAFYF had tried to immolate themselves in protest against the brutal rape and murder of Thangjam Manorama. President of the Front Sapamcha Kangleipal was also detained by the Government under the National Security Act (NSA) for convening a public meeting at Manipur Press Club on May 27, 2008.Since then, MAFYF has been withstanding the oppression and working relentless for the welfare of the people of Manipur, the statement added.
Police arrest four UG activists
Imphal, October 18 2014 : A team of Imphal East District Police commandos reportedly arrested two active members of KCP (Maoist) identified as Ingoudam Ibungo Singh @ Inao (33) yrs S/o (L) I.Mago Singh of Seijang Makha Leikai and Ngangom Shanta Singh @ Mamo (37) yrs S/o Ng. Krishna Singh of Loushangkhong Awang Leikai from Lamlai Bazar on October 16 last, according to a statement of PRO, Manipur Police department.
Incriminating articles were seized from the arrestees who were allegedly coming for collecting extortion money from a brick-field located at Telou Chana and they had also extorted a sum of Rs.2 (two) lakhs from Uripok Canteen Leirak recently, claimed the police statement while adding that they had extorted a huge amount of money from the general public, private firms, government offices, contractors and brick-fields located in and around Lamlai area to raise funds for KCP (Maoist).
