Nepal: Baidya party may see one more split, Chand likely to take lead
With the extended plenum of the central committee out rightly rejecting his proposal to declare war, secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), if reports are to be believed, is in haste to give shape to another Maoist party. One of the party central committee members is quoted by media as stating, “There is no alternative to declare a peoples’ revolt at the earliest possible. We are left with no alternative to give shape to a new party after our proposal was ridiculed by the central committee. More than 60 per cent of the youth in the party toe Comrade Biplav’s line of thinking. He is all prepared to give shape to a new party.”
Reports also confirm that the party vice chairman C.P. Gajurel too is providing his clandestine support to Chand. On the other hand party spokeswoman Pamhpa Bhusal accepts that there lay disputes within the party but issues are not that difficult to resolve that threaten spilt in the party.
