CPN-Maoist Banepa in charge arrested
KATHMANDU, NOV 18 – CPN-Maoist Benepa in charge Saurav Kayastha has been taken into police custody on the charge of disrupting the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. Kayastha was arrested on Sunday night. Police have not revealed the place where he has been detained. Meanwhile, police have been searching for other CPN-Maoist leaders and cadres as well. Police have so far arrested over 80 cadres of the parties in connection with vandalism and arson across the country.
CPN-Maoist cadres control polling station in Dailekh
DAILEKH, Nov 18: CPN-Maoist cadres have taken control of Lakantra-based Huika polling station in the district on Monday evening. A group of around 60 CPN-Maoist cadres chased away the police personnel and seven government officials deployed at the polling station. Talking to Republica Online over the phone, Returning Officer, Chitra Prasad Bhattarai informed that the CPN-Maoist cadres also vandalized the polling station.
Bhattarai told that two Nepal Police and two temporary personnel are still out of contact. Additional police personnel of Thatikandh Police post have been stationed at the polling station following the incident to prevent any untoward incidents. The additional police force has opened two rounds of fire to take control the situation.
Eight CPN-Maoist cadres held with pistols in Jajarkot
JAJARKOT, Nov 18: Eight CPN-Maoist cadres have been nabbed with loaded pistols at Dhime VDC of Jajarkot on Monday afternoon. According to Chief District Officer, Chakrapani Pandey, the Armed Police Force arrested them with eight rounds bullets and batteries to be used in the bombing. The details are yet to be ascertained, CDO Pandey told Republica Online.
Natl, intl forces bent on defaming us: Baidya
KATHMANDU, NOV 17 – The CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has expressed dissatisfaction saying that the government had labeled the strike called by 33-party alliance, led by his party, as an act of terrorism . Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Chairman Baidya said, “Some of the national and international regressive power centres are trying to oppress our peaceful strike denouncing it as an act of terrorism .”
The CPN-Maoist Chairman also said that ‘anti-national and anti-people forces’ are carrying out acts of violence to defame their strike. “That’s why we would like to urge all the protestors to be aware and cautious towards such types of conspiracy. Likewise, we would also like to reiterate that the ongoing transportation strike would be carried out in a peaceful and effective manner until November 19,” read the statement further.
