CPN-M unhappy with govt role in hydro projects

KATHMANDU: The incumbent government’s persuasive role in pushing forward the construction of Upper Karnali and Arun III has drawn sharp criticisms from Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPNM). CPNM’s Bheri Karnali State Organising Committee mentioned in its press statement that the caretaker government was becoming a totalitarian regime and playing the role of treason effectively after handing over the projects to southern neighbour. They also accused the government of channelising army force to quell any protests against the projects. CPNM has called for an immediate halt in the construction of the dams and advised the government to cancel the agreement with Indian companies and instead develop it in a proper way.
