DHARAN: The sister organisation of the CPN-Maoist, Rastriya Yuba Janaswayamsebak (RYJS) on Saturday has warned that it will raise arms unless the Saptakoshi High Embankment Multipurpose Project Treaty (SHEMPT) is scrapped. Chairman of the RYJ Udaya Bahadur Chalaune warned of stringent stir at a press statement organised in Dharan after conducting a field visit in the districts including Dhankuta, Udayapur, Sunsari and Bhojpur. The Saptakoshi High Embankment Multipurpose Project, which will be 259 metres high, will affect 84 village development committees of the districts including Sunsari, Udayapur, Saptari, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Khotang, Sankhuwasabha, Panchthar, displacing more than 300,000 people, informed Chairman Chalaune, warning the government to immediately scrap the treaty with India.
“We have already informed the government about it and if Prachanda and Baburam Bhattarai start implementing the project under the cover of the Nepali Army ignoring our voice, we will raise arms against it,” said Chalaune. Chairman Chalaune said Prachanda and Baburam inked the deal with India in spite of the protest by Baidhya camp while it was still inside the mother party.
