Maoist arrested in Garhwa

A maoist, wanted in 33 cases, was today arrested in Garhwa district, the police said here. Following a tip-off, the security forces raided the Kalal forests under Bhavnathpur police station and apprehended Amarnath, a self-styled area commander, Superintendent of Police Michael S Raj said.

“The Maoist is wanted in 33 cases, including encounters with the police personnel, murder, extortion, loot in Palamau and Garhwa districts,” he said, adding Amarnath hails from Palamau. The rebel claimed that he had left the banned outfit a year ago.
