Maoists posters announce death sentence for 4 in Bihar

Maoists put up posters in a village in Bihar’s Vaishali district announcing ‘death sentence’ for four people of a family, police on Sunday said. The Maoists pasted posters at Bardiha village under Patepur police station, about 50 km from Patna, announcing ‘death sentence’ to four members of a family.

“We are frightened and shocked after Maoists pasted posters in the village. Now we demand adequate security from the district administration for our safety as our lives have been threatened,” said Satrughan Mishra, one of the four members of the family said. Mishra said on Sunday that his family members along with dozens of villagers spent sleepless nights Saturday in view of Maoists posters.

Vaishali Superintendent of Police Upendra Kumar Singh said that local police have removed Maoists posters and seized them. A case has been lodged and an investigation is on, he added. Last month an elected rural representative and his son were shot dead by Maoists in Suki village under Patepur police station in Vaishali district. The armed Maoists killed Umesh Singh and his son Kunal Bharti.
