Extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, demolitions of homes, military operations and forced evacuations, soaring prices and low wages – these are the marks of the Aquino regime’s “tuwid na daan”.
No matter how hard the administration tries to spin Aquino’s “tuwid na daan” (straight path) and that the people are his “bosses”, these weavers of lies can’t hide the fact that the masses continue to suffer under the Aquino regime. The “tuwid na daan” is, in fact, the people’s road to Calvary. Extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, demolitions of homes, military operations and forced evacuations, soaring prices and low wages – these are the marks of the Aquino regime’s “tuwid na daan”. Numerous victims of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law cry out for justice. The documented violations expose the inhuman anti-people character of the regime. The reality experienced by the people is brought out in this documentation by human rights alliance KARAPATAN. The following are the violations by the regime’s security forces from 01 July 2010 until 30 June 2012, among others:
Forced evacuation 29,465
Use of schools, medical & religious facilities, and ther public places for military purposes 14,620
Extrajudicial killings 99
Enforced disappearances 11
Frustrated extrajudicial killings 60
Rape (all victims are minors) 3
Illegal arrest and detention 216
Forced eviction / demolition 7,008
Indiscriminate firing 6,721
Use of civilians in police and/or military operations, as guides and/or shields 206
In addition, there is the extrajudicial killing of Dutch development worker, Willem Geertman, 67, on 3 July 2012.
The above figures demonstrate the massive violations by the Aquino regime of the Geneva Conventions, Protocols I and II additional thereto, and other international humanitarian laws. These are also violations of the GRP-NDFP Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL).
The cry for justice of the many thousands of victims fall on the deaf ears of Benigno Aquino III who only listens to his true bosses – the US government, foreign multinationals, and local big landlords and compradors. It is the exploited and oppressed people, their organizations and the revolutionary forces who will continue to fight and obtain the justice they cry for.
