Naxal held in Kondagaon, tiffin bomb recovered

Continuing with anti-Naxal operations, Kondagaon Police arrested a rebel near Totar village. A 30-kg tiffin bomb was also seized.

According to police, Samu, alias Vijay Kashyap is a resident of Kudur Dongrigudapara, Kondagaon.

“He was arrested near the nullah between Totar and Kodenar village on Tuesday. The small action team of Kondagaon Police, along with police staff, was conducting search operation in Bamhani, Islnar, Hangva, Totar and Kodenar area when they found the Maoist in a hut,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops) Surjit Atri. Kashyap panicked on seeing police personnel and tried to flee but was nabbed by the security personnel.

Later, police recovered a 3-kg tiffin bomb along with wire and switch. Kashyap joined the Maoists before 2005. He was involved in attacking a police search party in 2007, according to the police. Police have charged him under Sections 147, 148, 149, 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and Section 3 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
