MANGALORE: With no Naxals surrendering after the week-long ceasefire announced by the state government against the Left wing renegades which ended at 6pm on Sunday, the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) will start its normal operations from Tuesday.
ANF Inspector-General of Police Alok Kumar told TOI that after consultation with top brass it was decided to continue normal and combing operations in their area of jurisdiction from Tuesday.
He refused to comment on former CM HD Kumaraswamy’s statement that the Naxal cease fire was announced based on incorrect information given by intelligence officials.
Sources said that ANF was getting feelers from Naxals regarding surrender offer. “The Naxals who have offered to surrender are not high value targets and we are not interested,” said the source.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Saturday last had announced that ANF and the local police would suspend all ongoing combing operations against Naxalites and give them an opportunity to surrender.
