2 alleged NPA rebels killed in Misamis

MANILA, Philippines – Two suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with government troops in Barangay Ampianga, Sugbongcogon, Misamis Oriental on Thursday, authorities said.

Authorities said the clash, which occurred around 5 pm, involved around 30 rebel soldiers allegedly of the NPA’s Guerilla Front 4B.

The casualties were not identified by the military.

Military recovered from the site a carbine rifle, a grenade and 30 backpacks.

They said there were no reported casualties from the government side.

Troops from the Army’s 58th Infantry Battalion are pursuing the rebel soldiers, who are allegedly involved in extortion in the area. –
