Ferro-alloy plant on strike in Georgia

Workers at the ferro-alloy plant in Zestafon (the Imereti region of Western Georgia) have declared a strike demanding increases in salary, NewsGeorgia reports.

About 700 workers of the plant are participating in the strike.

According to the television company, the workers haven’t succeeded in their peaceful demands for increases in salaries for the last four months.

The director of the plant, David Chanituria, has promised to improve working conditions and increase salaries by 30%. The participants in the strike insist on a 50% increase.
