Baidhya party against TIA contract to foreign company

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist on Wednesday objected to the purported contract of the development and management of Tribhuvan International Airport to an Indian private company, saying that it posed threat to the national sovereignty and security.

Issuing a press statement, the party’s Chairman Mohan Baidya and General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa urged the government not to strike any deal with the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services.

The CPN-M, hence, has urged the government not to strike the deal with the foreign company against the national interest, calling for solidarity among all the leftists, nationalists and democrats to pile pressure on the government not to sign the contract.
