The CRPF will provide additional security ring to vital installations in Maoist-affected areas that are already being guarded by the CISF, the two forces decided recently.
The first-of-its-kind move comes after six CISF men were killed in an ambush near National Mineral Development Corporation mines at Kirandul in Chhattisgarh a month ago.
The CISF men will also undergo training at the CRPF’s academy in Gurgaon in matters related to intelligence sharing and tactical training.
The CRPF, which is into combat and search operations in the Naxal-affected areas, will also share intelligence inputs with their CISF counterparts so that they are not attacked in a planned manner, as happened near the NMDC mines in Kirandul.
“We will provide them information on tactical training. This will be for the first time that CRPF personnel will dominate the area around the installations where CISF is deployed. We will launch more combing operations in those areas,” said P M Nair, IG, CRPF.
The CISF guards over 50 installations producing and extracting iron ore, coal and steel in Naxal-affected states. To begin with, the vulnerable installations in Kirandul and Bacheli areas will get additional security by the CRPF.
