Maoists likely to carry Menon-like abductions in Munger, Jamui

Jamui/Patna: Maoists in Banka, Jamui and Munger regions have planned abductions of high-level administrative officers in the area.

In a report submitted to Bihar government, intelligence agencies have said Moaists are likely to carry out abductions in the manner of Sukma Collector Menon’s kidnapping in near future in the region. According to the report, a high level meeting of the Maoists in Banka, Munger, Nawada, Lakhisarai and Jamui districts was held and the strategies were planned in the meet.

According to information from sources in the Maoist groups, Jamui SP, DSP, Collector and senior officers of CRPF will be targeted in the abductions. Combing operations often have a huge team of officers but when an officer leaves the district and goes to the railway station, he is rarely accompanied by officers. Maoists may target this security lag.

According to the report, the Maoists plan to get their comrades freed from jails in exchange for the abducted officers.
