Bhopal: Two Maoists including a woman had been shot dead in Balaghat by the Hawk Force of Madhya Pradesh police during an encounter on February 2.
This was informed to chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan by state intelligence during a closed doors meeting on Friday. The officials also informed that they failed to identify the killed Maoists as their bodies were carried away by their group members.
The police party had recovered two live hand grenades, 23 used cartridges, three bags of naxal literature, fatigues and other materials used to trigger explosions from the spot. An SLR, damaged in the police firing, was also recovered from the spot.
A detailed discussion on strategy to combat naxal problems in MP was also discussed during the meeting. Senior police officers including DGP Nandan Dubey and ADG intelligence Vivek Johri were present. Officials refused to reveal details of the meeting terming it as a confidential affair.
About identity of the killed Maoists, an officer said that their bodies could not be recovered but efforts were on to identify them. The encounter took place under Kasela police station area, bordering Maharasthra on February 2, he said.
