MANILA — At least 20 protesters were hurt when anti-riot squad of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) dispersed them infront of the Quezon City Hall on Elliptical Road, Diliman on Tuesday morning.
The commotion disrupted transactions when the militant urban poor groups sneaked past security personnel and had a shoving match with private security guards.
The militants belonging to Kadamay group were protesting what they said was the looming demolition of their homes at the NIA Road and San Roque areas, the future site of the QC Central Business District (CBD).
Since early Tuesday, the groups led by Kadamay had said they would continue to resist efforts by the city government to relocate them and demolish their shanties.
Three QCPD personnel were also hurt in the melee. (PNA)
