Support strike if you feel right: Maoist

Imphal, March 30 2012: The Maoist Communist Party, Manipur in a statement today has appealed to the people of the state especially the labour community to refrain from carrying out their services and support the proposed General Strike on March 31 only if they think that the step taken up by Maoist is right and they want to stand for the rights of labourers.

It may be mentioned that the outfit has called a 12-hour general strike on March 31 from 5 am to 5 pm in protest against the merciless killing of two innocent handymen by unknown miscreants who burnt a passenger bus parked at Keishampat.

The outfit also appealed to all persons belonging to labour class including drivers of passenger services to support the general strike.

It further stated that media, electricity, religious activities and other essential services would be exempted from the purview of the general strike.
