Police, Maoists exchange fire, 1 held

HAZARIBAG: A Koderma police team headed by superintendent of police (SP) Shambhu Thakur foiled an attempt made by the Maoists to enter the district through Rajwar forest under Satgawan police station.

One of them was arrested from the Nawada border, following the operation.

Thakur said that there was massive exchange of fire between the Maoists and the police. However, the insurgents could not fight it out for long and escaped when the police chased them. The arrested Maoist was identified as Ranjit Razak, alias, Pramod hailing from the Lakhisarai district of Bihar. Police seized two rifles, 175 live cartridges, three cellphone and several military uniforms from them. tnn
