Fifteen protesters were arrested for public violence during a strike at Samancor Western Mines at Mooinooi, near Brits, on Tuesday, North West police said.
Around noon, the striking mine workers disrupted traffic and were “unruly” as they picketed for wage increases, said Captain Amanda Funani in a statement.
“The workers were arrested for breaking the laws of picketing, which clearly state that the match must be peacefully,” she said.
They would appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. – Sapa
