Police vehicle escapes Maoist landmine blast

Medininagar, Mar 13 (PTI) A vehicle carrying a senior police officer and other policemen escaped a landmine explosion by Maoists, while another going ahead was damaged in the blast in Jharkhand’s Palamau district today, police said. The landmine went off just ahead of the vehicle carrying Additional Superintendent of Police (Palamu Range) Ronald Hansda and police personnel near Namudag village in the Medininagar-Chhatarpur area, DIG (CRPF) B K Sharma said. However, a civilian vehicle, driving ahead of the police vehicle was caught in the blast and damaged, he said. The occupants of both vehicles were unhurt, he said. The policemen were going to Saraidih and Devnaar villages where encounters took place in the morning.
