Gunbattle at Jhargram

Jhargram: A gun battle erupted between security forces and Maoists in a jungle in West Midnapore district along the Orrisa border, police said. Following intelligence input that a group of Maoists from Bandwan and Orissa had come to Gopiballavpore to hold a meeting, a team of security forces raided the area. There was no report of any injury or casualty during the 20-minute-long exchange of firing, said Jhargram SP Gaurav Sharma. “After the initial firing, the Maoists seemed to have fled away to Orrisa. We found a bag and a polythene sheet,” he said.—-Maoist–held/911384/
