Ajaokuta Steel workers embark on an indefinite strike

It is reported that staff of the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited in Kogi State have embarked on an indefinite strike as the steel company has been locked up.

The staff are protesting against unpaid salaries and allowances, which they claimed have been released to the management of the company by the Federal Government.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the management, which had earlier agreed to pay the said money, suddenly reneged on its promise.

Mr Mallam Abdulkareem Jimoh chairman of the Iron and Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, who confirmed that the workers had been at home, said that the management had not been fair to the workers.
