Top Naxal leader arrested

Maruti Kurwatkar, a top Naxal leader, was arrested on Saturday from Talodhi in Chandrapur district, police said. Based on a tip-off, Kurwatkar was nabbed by a special team after a chase. Kurwatkar was a member of the state committee of the CPI Maoist and secretary of Chandrapur committee of CPI Maoist. “He has three offences under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act pending against him,” said Chandrapur Superintendent of Police Suvez Haq.
