Sheohar: A joint team of CPRF and police on Saturday arrested a woman ultra and seized arms and explosives from her house in Tariyani village in Bihar’s Sheohar district, a police official said.
Acting on information revealed by some ultras in Muzaffarpur and East Champaran districts, the CRPF and police teams of Sheohar, East Champaran and Muzaffarpur districts, in a joint operation, raided Tariyani village and arrested the woman ultra, identified as Anjali Devi alias Bangali chachi, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitisha Gudia said.
The joint team seized a haul of arms and ammunition comprising two can bombs, a carbine magazine, potassium nitrate and ammonium nitrate, thin rope used for making bombs, naxal literature and posters, she said.
The CRPF commandant P.C. Muria, Assistant Commandant D.S. Negi, Muzaffarpur’s DSP S. Numani and other police officials were also part of the joint operation.
A self-styled Maoist area commander Chandrama Ram and four other suspected ultras were arrested from Rampur Lakh village in Natwar police station area in Bihar’s Rohtas disrict, a police official said today.
“Acting on a tip off, the police raided the village and caught Ram and four other suspected ultras,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Manu Maharaj said. A carbine, two pistols and 17 ammunitions were seized from them, he said.
Maharaj said that the background of four persons other than Ram was being ascertained to find out about their association with Naxal groups or their activities.
