Naxalite killed in encounter

One Maoist was killed and a gun was seized during an encounter with armed naxalites and police at a village under Atri police station of Bihar’s Gaya district late last night, City SP Satyavir Singh said.

Acting on a secret information that ultras assembled at the village for a crime, a police team reached the place, leading to an encounter.

Police fired eleven rounds in reply to several rounds fired by the Maoists, killing a naxalite Pancham Paswan, he said.

One gun and four live cartridges were seized from the encounter-site, Singh said adding the ultras later managed to flee.
