2 Maoists held from Masaurhi

PATNA: A Patna Police team along with STF personnel arrested CPI ( Maoist) self-styled sub zonal committee member of north region, Gore Lal alias Shyamdeo Mochi along with his associate Surendra Ravidas from Masaurhi on Friday.

Patna SSP Alok Kumar said acting on information that some construction agencies in Masaurhi and Bhagwanganj police stations areas in Patna district were getting extortion calls, a police team was constituted on the directive of SP (rural) Manoj Kumar. The team along with STF personnel arrested the duo.

SSP said while Lal is a native of Firozi village under Pali police station in Jehanabad district, Ravidas hails from Dhanauti village under Masaurhi police station. Gore Lal was wanted in connection with five cases lodged with Karauna police outpost, Bhagwanganj, and Masaurhi police stations, he added.

Kumar said that Lal was also involved in torching of Nadaul railway station on June 16, 2011. Police recovered Naxal literature, Rs. 1.15 lakh in cash, one cellphone, one pistol, four cartridges besides three SIMs from Lal’s possession.
