PATNA: The entire police machinery has been geared up for the security of chief minister Nitish kumar, who is slated to be on Seva Yatra to Rohtas district, infamous for naxal activities, from Wednesday. The police headquarters has reasons to be cautious as police caught a Maoist while planting landmines at Barachatti in Gaya district on Tuesday.
IG (operations) Rajesh Chandra said that in the backdrop of the CM’s visit to Rohtas, STF, CRPF and BMP jawans are being deployed at strategic locations as part of the ‘area domination exercise’ in Rohtas and adjoining districts.
In the process of the deployment, he said, the STF caught red-handed a Maoist, identified as Ganesh alias Sanjay, while planting landmines at Ziura village under the Barachatti police station. The Maoist was overpowered and police found two landmines from his possession.
He said that the landmine was being planted on the route from which police forces were to retreat after the CM’s visit.
