RMP detained by security personnel

Jamshedpur, Dec 2 (PTI) The security personnel have arrested a man, suspected to be a Maoist sympathizer, from Beltand-Jorsa road in East Singhbhum district, police sources said today. Security forces were checking vehicles on Beltand-Jorsa road last night when a pillion rider of a motorcycle which was trying to flee fired at the security personnel, CRPF Commandant Sanjay Singh said. The security forces gave a chase and detained Parmeshwar Murmu, a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP). Singh said the security personnel had information that the Maoists were searching for a doctor for treatment of injured Suchitra Mahto, the wife of slained top maoists leader Sasadhar Mahato. Singh said we have doubts the injured Suchitra Mahto has taken shelter in the bordering areas of the district bordering West Bengal though we did not have any concrete evidences of it. Senior Superintendent of Police here, Akhilesh Kumar Jha today confirmed that a person travelling on a two-wheeler opened fire at CRPF personnel during search operation in Patamda when they tried to stop them. The police are interrogating the detained person, Jha added.
