PATNAGARH: Maoist posters created panic in Lathore gram panchayat on Friday. The fear factor had traders down shutters.
Educational institutions and offices including the lone Central Bank of India branch, remained closed. Even a test scheduled at Lathore College was suspended. This is for the first time that the Maoists pasted posters in the area as a part of its PLGA week. Posters were also found at Guchapli under Khaprakhol block.
President of Merchant’s Association, Anni Meher said even though the posters did not call for a bandh, a few people closed shop apprehending trouble and others followed suit.
Meanwhile, the police have removed the posters pasted on the wall of the Hanuman temple and the Livestock Centre at Lathore.
Balangir Superintendent of Police Awinish Kumar said security forces are on alert to deal with any subversive activity by the Maoists.
