RUKUM, Nov 29: Former Maoist combatants from Dahaban of Rolpa have been planning for a strike in protest, stating that the seven-point deal on the peace process and constitution drafting does not incorporate their interests and has remained silent on the long term solution to their problems.
Putting forth a nine-point demand, the combatants are going on the strike beginning on Tuesday.
They had submitted a nine-point memorandum to the Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and their party, UCPN (Maoist), on November 25 to press for their demand.
The time given to address their demand has already lapsed and there is no alternative to a revolt, said Rajendra Rawat, member of the injured and disabled combatants association.
The struggle committee of the association has been formed under the leadership of Susiram Chaudhary for the purpose of the strike.
“Since the government and our party have failed to address our demand, we have no option than to go for strike,” said Rawat.
