KCP-M bandh paralyze Manipur

Imphal| November 26: Life in the state of Manipur was seriously affected today by a 24-hour bandh called given by banned militant group Kangleipak Communist Party-Maoist (KCP-M) strongly protesting against the State government for not taking up adequate measures to bring solution to the over three months long economic blockade being imposed along national highways leading to Manipur.  The general strike started from last midnight is due to end November 26 midnight. Business and Government establishments were shut down, and roads wore a deserted look as movement of vehicles could not be seen across the state Saturday. Inter-state bus services and passenger services were also totally paralyzed due to the strike. Both private and Government schools and colleges were also remained closed.
However, there was no report of any untoward incidents during the bandh till this evening. KCP (Maoist) group has imposed the strike to show resentment over the prolonged indefinite economic bandh enforced by United Naga Council (UNC), blaming the state Government of failing to solve the issue, which has resulted in the price hikes in the state. The aggrieved militant organization has also indicated that the bandh might be extended another 24 hours.
