Non-payment of arrears triggers Ctg workers’ protest

Workers of a ready-made garment company in Chittagong blocked a road in the city for three hours on Monday demanding their arrears.

Transport movement on one kilometre of Muradpur-Oxygen Road came to a halt due to the demonstration, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Md Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Police Station, said nearly 1000 workers from two units of Banalata Group took to the street in Aturer Depo area around 8:30am, creating a huge gridlock on the road.

The apparel workers however removed their barricade around 11:30am when Prasad Shikder, general manager of the group, assured them of meeting their demand.
