Maoists on Monday damaged an Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APRTC) bus between Dandabadi village and Parvatipuram on the Narayanpatna route.
The Maoists damaged the APSRTC bus by breaking the window and front panes and cutting the seats demanding Maoist leader Damodar who was arrested on September 25 be produced in court. Sources said that about eight uniformed Maoist cadre with arms, stopped the APSRTC bus plying from Parvatipuram (AP) to Narayanpatna. At about 1 pm at Dandabadi village the Maoists asked the driver, staff and other passengers to get down with their luggage from the bus. When the bus was empty, they broke the windows including the windshield of the bus and cut the seats into pieces, damaging the bus.
Later they pasted a letter on the bus where they demanded forwarding to court of their leader Damodar. They also said that if their leader was not produced before court, such type of incidents would be repeated.
“We are vigilant and keeping an eye on the situation, Narayanpatna police sources said.
In another incident on the borders of Malkangiri district three police personnel of Special Security Force (SSF) camping at Dantewada in Chhattisgarh died on Monday morning in a landmine explosion by Maoists at Giram village. Sources reveal that the SSF personnel were on their way to Banjaram Ghat temple for worship. Seven SSF jawans were travelling by a 407 truck and the rest by a Bolero jeep. The Bolero passed a culvert at Giram village and when the 407 truck was passing the explosion took place. Three jawans died on the spot and four were admitted to Jagdalpur Hospital for treatment. The jawans who died in the incident belonged to Assam, sources said.
