Bus set alight in Wonderkop job protest

JOHANNESBURG – A bakkie and a bus were set alight at the Xstrata Wonderkop Mine outside Rustenburg on Tuesday, North West police said.

Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said the community of Nkaneng burnt a bus belonging to the mine and a privately owned bakkie during job protests at the mine.

They were unhappy that locals were not employed at the mine, he said.

No arrest had been made and police were monitoring the situation.
