Dozens injured as burning minibus protest goes out of control

Thirty-one employees of the Kahta Municipality in the southeastern province of Adıyaman were injured when minibus drivers, protesting a municipality decision to introduce new minibus lines in the district, set a minibus on fire and, according to the mayor, sent it into the municipality building on Saturday.

This bizarre protest set the structure on fire, sending panicked personnel to the windows of the three-storey building. Some were seen jumping out while others waited for the firefighters to rescue them.

Eleven people were arrested after the incident. They were released by a court on Sunday pending trial.
