Strike, Clashes in Bhaderwah

Baderwah, Oct 12: A spontaneous strike shut Baderwah town after police opened fire in air to disperse protesting students inside Baderwah degree college Wednesday.
At least two students were injured in police action, reports said. The clashes broke out following protest by a group of students from History Department of the college, police sources said.
Police said one of the history professors while delivering a lecture in the class ‘inadvertently’ mentioned something wrong over historical background of  majority community which was objected by the students. The students staged protest in the college demanding action against the guilty professor. Authorities however called police who used force to disperse the agitating students. Enraged students pelted stones at principal s office, reports said. Police fired several rounds in air to disperse the protestors while two students were injured , reports said.
Bhaderwah town was shut down and paramilitary forces were deployed to avoid any untoward like incident, reports added.
