Zambian Strikes Extend to State-Owned Companies, Times Reports

Hundreds of workers are on strike over pay at five Zambian companies, including state-owned entities, the Times of Zambia said, citing labor leaders, government officials and employers.

The companies affected are Zambezi Portland Cement Ltd., Zinc Aluminum Copper and Ore Co. and Full Value Goodness Millers Ltd., the daily reported. Workers at state-owned power utility Zambia Electricity Supply Corp. Ltd. and Mpulungu port on Lake Tanganyika staged protests, the Times said.
