Mumbai ATS indicts 10 Maoist suspects caught from Pune railway station

Pune: The Mumbai Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has submitted a chargesheet against 10 alleged Maoists arrested from the Pune railway station on May 13 this year.

The chargesheet was filed before the court of judicial magistrate (first class) SS Bose on September 7. Those charge-sheeted are Nippen, alias Sana Duku Mahato, 23; Anand Khagendranath Mahato, 36; Ravi Podhan Hansada, 18; Shushanto, alias Beet Khagendranath Mahato, 36; Ravi Dulal Mahato, 28; Rudra, alias Shanu Ajit Mahato, 18; Kaddu Biru Hembrabh, 20; Satyajit Khojen Rana, 18; Ajit, alias Pocchu Nabkumar Mahato; and Pinto, alias Atal Tapan Mahato, 19.

According to the chargesheet, all suspects are members of a banned Maoist organisation and have several criminal cases pending against them in West Bengal. They were spreading Maoist thought and literature among migrant labourers from West Bengal working in Ranjangaon industrial belt.

After arresting them, the Pune ATS recovered one county-made pistol and two live cartridges from Nippen, one pistol from Ravi and Rudra each, five live cartridges from Satyajit and Ajit respectively and one country-made pistol from Pintu.

The case has now been transferred to the special court of NP Dhote.
