Berlin elections marred by arson attacks

Berlin – Arsonists set fire to several cars in Berlin over the weekend, police said Sunday, as the German capital held local elections dominated in part by security concerns.

Four luxury cars were set on fire overnight, in several areas of the city where an influx of well-heeled residents has driven up rents in recent years. Two cars were torched the previous night.

Police said they were investigating possible political motives behind the attacks.
