Bashky-Terek village’s residents (Kyrgyzstan) demand KGS 3M from the Chinese gold mining plant management

The residents of Bashky-Terek village in Chatkal district of Batken province (Kyrgyzstan) demand 3 million soms from the Zaav Chaarat Chinese Gold Mining Plant’s management. Malik Nurdinov, chairman of the regional Department of Internal Affaires, told news agency.

According to him, earlier the company made an agreement with the local residents. ‘The population has prepared the appeal to the project manager about the fact that two bridges and roads were broken by heavy- load trucks, as well as the need to build a fence from a mud torrent. The plant’s management promised to give 3 million soms for restoration. However, it has paid only 1, 600 million soms,’ said Malik Nurdinov.

He noted that on Monday, September 12 young villagers captured several heavy-load trucks. ‘Yesterday cars and drivers have been released after the meeting with a district akim (head). As the company representatives were absent, they were given deadline up to September 16 for fulfillment of the requirements.

Recall, a similar conflict between the Full Gold Mining Company and the Terek-Sai villager’s residents has already happened in Chatkal district in the end of August. Kyrgyz citizens came out to the rally and in protest blocked the road connecting two districts of Zhalal-Abad province – Chatkal and Ala-Buka.
