Zzimwe workers threaten to demonstrate over arrears

Workers of Zzimwe Construction Company are threatening to strike over unpaid arrears of over 200 million shillings.

The workers who declined to be named in this report for fear of the repercussions alleged that they have not received salaries and wages for the last four months.

They say that the company has been promising to clear them but they think the period is now too long and the only option is to demonstrate.

“Our families are crippling, we want to receive our salaries,” says one of the workers.

The workers say that they have to pay fees and feed their children but the company has not paid them. The workers are threatening to stop working until their arrears are cleared. The journalist’s efforts to get a comment from Paul Kasaga who is the company’s director were futile.
