Roumieh inmates go on hunger strike

The National News Agency reported on Friday night that 190 prisoners in Lebanon’s Roumieh Prison went on a hunger strike to protest against the strict inspection measures.

However, prison authorities told the NNA that the situation is calm and there is no disturbance.

Roumieh central prison witnessed several riots during 2011 where prisoners were protesting the situation of the prisons. Families of the prison’s inmates also held several protests in many regions to back the prisoners’ demands for enhancing their living situation.
