Man fronts court over alleged employer assault

A man has appeared in a court in Cairns in far north Queensland for allegedly assaulting his boss with a beer bottle and setting fire to his house and car.

Shane Anderson, 36, has been charged with unlawful wounding, arson and attempted arson following the weekend incident.

The Cairns Magistrates Court heard Anderson hit his boss with a beer bottle at a party at Woree in Cairns on Saturday night.

He then allegedly drove to the man’s home at Mount Sheridan and set his car and house on fire, causing extensive damage to the building.
