The Fresno Police Department is investigating what they believe to be two separate, deliberate attacks on a female police officer.
Police say firebombs were thrown at the officer’s northwest Fresno home about half an hour after she returned home from work early Sunday morning. Nobody was hurt, but her house did suffer fire damage.
Fire crews raced back to the scene again Monday night when flames came shooting out of the house again. This time, nobody was home. The officer and her family had been staying at a “safe house”.
Chief Jerry Dyer confirmed to KMJ News that the second attack was intentional.
KMJ News has learned the Dept. of Justice will be in Fresno on Tuesday, investigating the series of arson attacks.
Investigators are looking into whether there’s a connection with an August 17th incident in which two patrol cars were set on fire at the southwest police district station.
