Maruti Suzuki’s car production hit as worker protest enters seventh day

Worker protests continue even on the sixth day as production takes a hit at the Maruti Suzuki Manesar plant. Just 150 cars rolled off the production lines on Saturday as the workers continued their protests outside the factory. The protests at the Maruti plant have had a big impact on the production processes. This is not the first time that the company is facing this issue. This year alone, the Manesar plant has seen a couple of rounds protests.

Meanwhile, the Maruti management has hired 125 additional men to keep the production ticking. The company has been hiring people for this purpose since the unrest escalated. Maruti Suzuki has roped in a total of 800 workers, supervisors and engineers up till now. The production rate a fallen sharply even though the company has been adding to the number of contractual labourers working the plant.
